I have a thirty-two acre small holding deep in the Essex countryside at Little Bowsers Farm, Little Walden, near Saffron Walden in the Uk. The farm is Certified and Approved by Organic Farmers and Growers and has been Organically Certified since 1998.I am a Free Range Producer of Organic Eggs and the egg production units are inspected and approved by R.S.P.C.A. Freedom Food, and the B.E.I.S. Lion Code.I sell most of my organic eggs to an egg packer who in turn supplies the multiples. I grade and pack my eggs to supply a local organic box scheme and local organic shops. I do not encourage farm gate sales (they are good public relations but not cost efficient), but the farm does have "open days". A symbiotic expansion was to plant a ten acre organic top fruit orchard. The top fruit orchard produces organic apples, organic pears, organic cherries and organic plums. I also grow organic soft fruit; organic strawberries, organic raspberries and organic gooseberries. More recently I have added organic redcurrants, organic blackcurrants and organic blackberries. My wife Maureen is very busy on the farm
too, keeping the books (plus four horses) and running four farmstay
